The USMMA Mid-Atlantic Parent's Club (includes Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia & DC) welcomes you to the beginning of the most exciting adventure of your life as you prepare for entry into the United States Merchant Marine Academy.  We want you to know that our club offers both the Midshipmen and parents as much support and guidance as possible (especially during indoc).  It is important for you to know that you are not alone and we encourage you to contact us with questions or concerns at any time.

We encourage you to join our Club.  Membership dues are only $25.00 per family per year and are used throughout the year to support our Midshipmen with on-campus pizza parties, ice cream socials, goodie bags during finals, etc.  These events are a welcome relief from Delano Hall (Midshipman dining facility) and relaxed change of pace for our Midshipman, especially the plebes.

Some of you may not wish to be an active member, due to time or distance constraints, but please consider a donation to help us sustain these Midshipmen activities and return the registration form so we have accurate information for our club directory which will be available on-line.  The directory will include all data received by 9 July. Regardless of your level of participation; our club is committed to support all Midshipmen from the Mid-Atlantic region.

On Indoc Day (Thursday 10 July 2008), the Mid-Atlantic Parents Club will have a table setup near the entrance of O’Hara Hall where all plebe candidates report.  This location will serve as an informal gathering place at the Academy for those who desire to enter the registration building together.  Although once inside, the group will ultimately be assigned to different companies, past experience indicates it is helpful for plebes to know someone close to their home.  Being a part of and working as a team is essential to successful completion of Indoc.

Again, welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Parents Club!    Please feel free to contact us at any time.  We look forward to meeting and talking to all of you.
